Description: PATS surveyed farmers in 1999 and 2000 to document the adoption patterns of herbicide tolerant (HT) soybeans. The adoption rate for HT-soybeans has been dramatic. This graph illustrates the percentage of farms adopting HT-soybeans among different sized farm operations. Of farmers planting over 250 acres of soybeans, 78 percent were planting HT-soybeans on some portion of their fields. In contrast, of those farmers with less than 50 acres of soybean production, slightly over half were planting HT-soybeans. Of note is that approximately 52 percent of soybean producers in our sample planted less than 50 acres of soybeans, while 6 percent planted more than 250 acres.
