Description: In order to solicit farmer input regarding University research and extension programs, PATS asked a series of questions about the research and extension programs at the University of Wisconsin in the 1999 Wisconsin Dairy Farm Poll. Around half of the dairy farmers surveyed agreed that "the need is greater than ever for publicly funded agricultural research programs." Examined from a slightly different angle, relatively few dairy farmers believe that research by the agribusiness sector can take the place of research carried out by the University Experiment Station.
