Description: This chart details cash receipts (inflation adjusted to 2000 dollars) in Wisconsin for livestock and livestock products and for crops for the period of 1949 to 2001. Cash receipts for all commodities is the sum of these two commodity groups. This chart makes two points clear. First, cash receipts increased substantially in the early 1970s and continued to increase until the early 1980s at which point cash receipts began a downward trend. In current dollar terms, cash receipts in 2001 for all commodities and for livestock and livestock products are below what they were in 1949. Second, the chart illustrates the importance of livestock agriculture compared to crop production in Wisconsin. However, while cash receipts for crop production have remained relatively constant since 1975, cash receipts for livestock production have steadily decreased since 1980..
