Description: PATS surveyed Wisconsin farmers in 1999 and 2000 to document the adoption patterns of Bt-corn varieties. Our data show that there has been a slight decline in Bt-corn use from 1998 to 2000. This decline in Bt-corn use began in 1999, rather than in 2000. In 1998, approximately 21 percent of Wisconsin corn producers adopted Bt-corn, and that number decreased slightly to 19 and 18 percent in 1999 and 2000, respectively. Similarly, the percent of Bt-corn acres in Wisconsin fell slightly from 11.7 percent to 11.1 percent between 1999 and 2000. Note that PATS did not collect data on Bt-corn acres in our 1999 Wisconsin Farmer Poll.
