The Census of Agriculture report for 1997 suggests that farm numbers, and especially the number of total acres in farms as well as acres of total cropland and harvested cropland acres, are declining more rapidly in Wisconsin than in the U.S. as a whole. The number of medium-sized farms has declined rapidly, whereas the number of larger farms has increased. PATS publications document these structural trends, farm management practices, use of technologies, farm characteristics and farmers' views on important policy questions.
